Miracle Catch 25th June 2006

GOD spoke to me, also re-affirmed by my G12 sister Michelle Yeong, that 25th June marks the beginning of miracle catching. Hereby, I claim that Miracle Catch Round 2 begins! I truly desire and pray that miracles will become a norm in my life and in your lives. More importantly, I pray that your lives will be anchored upon the Rock- our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Because this is the foundation of a life filled with blessings from GOD.

Big welcome to small Eunice into this family of GOD. Clap Clap!!!

Let's continue to pray for the names of friends/family in our Miracle List. Ladies, you have done well in Round 1. It's your attitude behind this Catch that you have proven yourselves. Jiayou for Round 2. You are not alone. We are all conquerring together for we are called to be conquerors for JESUS.

Please remember to go through Pastor Khong's 3 sermons on Rest from Stress. If you had missed out the sermons somehow, please catch it online. You should start doing your mind map on the sermons. I want to check on your mind map. We will discuss your understanding for this series of sermons after next Sunday.

Please note down on your calendar that we are having a SFSA tribe meeting on 21st July 2006. This time round, SA tribe will be leading worship. Currently, SA12 and some other older girls will be doing. I want to encourage you, to ask yourself how you can contribute yourselves to worship in the near future. Perhaps, Michelle Ling vocalist, Jayne guitarist, Vivian dancer, and what have you? Personally, I will dance for tribe meeting on 21st July.

I'm flying off soon. Take good care of yourselves and each other. I'm still contactable on my mobile phone.

Byebye!

Tabernacle Camp 10th - 11th June

The Tabernacle Camp is finally over! Time flies... The past few weeks, I'd been busy with the signups for the camp, signups for the different sub-activities that would gone on during the Camp, the payments, the sourcing for tents etc.

Camp Amigo started on 9th June. It began with Kayaking at Changi Seasports Center. Meifang and the girls, (Angeline, Michelle, Charmaine, Joanne and Samantha) were fantastic! Here are some pictures taken:

GB camp (Henderson GB and Jurongville GB combined) commenced on 9th June too.

Saturday morning was the official opening of the Tabernacla Camp. Ps HG shared how this camp is in line with YouthNet Vision 2006: The Gathering, The Training & The Sending. The tabernacle is a dwelling place of GOD among the gathered people. The gathered people enter the tabernacle through JESUS, who is revealed through the Tabernacle. (1) The arrangement of the tribes around the Tabernacle [Numbers 2] which made up a CROSS on an aerial view, (2) the arrangement of the articles in the Tabernacle which made up a CROSS on an aerial view and (3) through the 4 standards, colours used, bronze altar, bronze basin, Table of shewbread, lampstand, altar of incense, the veil, mercy seat, items in the Ark of Covenant, Pillar of fire and pillar of cloud and worship.
Definition of The Feast of the Tabernacle: It is the tutoring of our spirits to celebrate the goodness of GOD collectively in a humble living condition. Reference Verse: Leviticus 23:33-43

We are reminded to thank GOD and not to take our blessings for granted. Kuwait was prosperous for the past decade and was wiped out in one day. What if it happens to Singapore one fine day? Don’t be complacent.

Aim of the Tabernacle Camp: To send excited, grateful, contented, united and humble generation to share the blessings of GOD to others, especially those who live in ‘pre-promised land’ lifestyle (i.e. The Israelites complained complained and complained. A grumbling and ungrateful attitude.)

5 groups of people we shall aim to bless:
Poor
Needy
Orphan
Widow
Aliens (i.e. foreigners)

After Pastor HG’s sharing, HGSFSAHJ tribes marched to the Tabernacle Camp from TC. HGSFSA12 will take turns to carry the Ark of the Covenant, leading the entire mass of followers to the Tabernacle Camp.

(pictures coming up...)

On Saturday, there were Beach Activity and Night Cycling. I went for the Night Cycling with Lin Nan, Peiling, Pey Rou, Vida, Yanshi, Chin Fen, Yuanjia and Chin Fen’s friend. It was such a good experience. My first night cycling.

Throughout this camp, GOD reminded me of many things:

Servant Leadership
I was asked to take care of the bags while everyone was away for Kayaking since I wasn’t kayaking. My first thought was, why me? I wanted to stay at the beach to watch the others played. Nevertheless, I went away to look after the bags. When I was there alone, I told GOD to come and encounter me. GOD impressed upon my heart the words ‘Servant Leadership’. To lead is to serve. I’m reminded not to lourde over my people, but to be a servant for them. It was a privilege to look after the bags because I can be trusted. That’s why I was asked to look after the bags.

Humility and brokenness
Sleeping in tents is a far cry from the luxurious bed we have at home. With the continuous rain over the weekend seemed to make it worse. The only time when the sun was shining brightly was during the march to the Tabernacle. It was divine. Praise the LORD for those who stayed in the Camp, especially the youths! It was indeed a humbling experience for many of us. I believe the GOD is bringing some of us to a state of brokenness where we identify that we truly need GOD in our lives. Without GOD, we are nothing.

Perseverance
Even as a dancer who exercises regularly, I am having aches in my top thighs and upper back after cycling for 6 hours overnight. I take my hat off to those who may not be as ‘fit’ as me. I’m sure GOD’s strength was upon many of us to last the race. I’m reminded of my journey with GOD. I want to last the race. I want to run in perseverance. Would you run the same way too? Lin Nan, I affirm you that you have persevered and you are a conqueror! You have stretched yourself beyond the extent you could handle. Praise you in the name of JESUS.

Unity in the Body of Christ
A conflict arose among the youths with a youth from Ps Debra’s side. I learnt about managing conflict. More important, GOD reminds us that we are one body, irregardless which tribe you belong to. Let us remember that we are responsible for what we say and do. Be a good ambassador of Christ and let’s learn to accommodate the differences among ourselves and learn to love one another – the one commandment God has given.

This camp in itself is a CONQUEST – to conquer ourselves so that GOD can use us when we are broken.

Sermon dated 4th June: Resting in God's Power - Breaking the Paralysis of the Will

Preacher: Apostle Lawrence Khong
Scripture Reference: Romans 6:1-14

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ 1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with,[
a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

(my responses are in purple)

The root of the problem of stress is not the lack of rest of the 'outside', but the lack of rest of the 'inside'.
Stress is inevitable; So how are you managing your stress?
Inappropriate stress management may lead to sinful ways that may in turn lead to bondages.
Urge you to find rest in the midst of stress.
GOD can strengthen us to set us free from the will that paralyses us!

Accept our responsibilities in overcoming stress

Don't feel victimized by stress. See stress positively and use it to help yourself instead! 'Increased stress increases productivity till a certain limit'

There are two types of stress: (1) Acute Stress It comes suddenly and goes away suddenly. E.g. The momentary stress built up when you see an oncoming vehicle travelling at high speech towards you. (2) Chronic Stress It's longer term.. Say, you're not happy with an environment but there is no way for you to get out. Most people try to get used to this type of stress. But this is BAD! We can take responsibilities for such stress.

Don't react to stress with bad habits because they are addictive. It's not wrong to watch tv/ play computer games etc, but it's wrong to get addicted. Interestingly, Pastor recommends 'exercising' as a good way to cope with stress.

I concur to Pastor that exercising is a good way of stress relief. Actually I don't usually feel stressed, even when I have alot of things to do. I dance very often, perhaps I dance away my stress? I used to jog and play badminton very often during Sec sch and JC days. They helped me to relieve my stress pented up. Overcoming stress is 100% Man and 100% GOD.

Believe GOD has broken the power of sin (in our lives)

What happens when we sin? We not only do wrong things before the sight of GOD, but also become a slave to sin. What, then, is freedom in Christ? Freedom is NOT doing whatever you like, rather, freedom is doing that GOD wants in your life.

When we are baptised, we die to our sinful body and arise in newness in our lives. There is no addiction that cannot be broken.

I'm reminded of Gal 5:1 - 'It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.' Be freed from slavery. Dear ladies and girls, for those who have not get baptised, what are you waiting for? My personal testimony of my baptism is that indeed I am different after my baptism - in body, spirit and soul. Body: I'm cleansed. Spirit: I will follow JESUS for the rest of my life. Soul: JESUS is my pillar of strength and support. I may be emotionally weaker, but He sustains me.

Consecrating our lives to GOD (as instrument of righteousness)

Pastor asked why, then, are there Christians who still live in sin. As a believer in Christ, you are entitled to your right to choose to go back to Satan - sinful life or NOT to yield to sin.

On a daily basis, renew yourself in the LORD. Make the choice and rededicate yourself to GOD. GOD is never tired if us running back to Him.

What an apt question Pastor had asked. Indeed, from what I observed in Christians who find no breakthrough in their sinful lives, are that either (1) they do not understand why it is a sin to do certain thing or (2) they choose to be disobedient. For those who are in the former category, I encourage you to trust your leaders. When they say it's a sin, accept it for they will surely want the best for you. There is no need to doubt. If you fall under the latter category, ask yourself what good does it do to you as you choose to be disobedient. Why shortchange yourself to be disobedient? Wake up to your senses.
